Alrighty, the topic of this week’s blog will be collections. Not so much bragging about my collections, but trying to talk about what I collect and why. I’m typing this sitting in my family’s living room,with a corner of the room being occupied by a pile of my things, with more in the garage,and in the closets. These crates, boxes, and piles of assorted sundries were amassed over my lifetime, each containing a fragment of memory. I can pick up a toy and remember what happened that day when I got it, how the weather was, how I was feeling and who was around me at that particular time. I can pick up my books and remember reading them for the first time. Or my games and who I played them with. Sifting through and old box often brings back memories that had long been lost, like digging through a box of keys.

Despite being almost 30, I am an avid toy collector. I don’t keep things in boxes unless I can put them back in easily enough; I don’t obsess over collector value. Most of what I own I got for simple reasons: curiosity,I liked how it looked,or I either wanted to reward or console myself for some reason. From transformers, to Japanese toys, to 80s toys, the list goes on.

A good bit of my collection has become somewhat obsolete. The hundreds of dvds I own can now be torrented or streamed, and half of my collection is available on Netflix. So why hold on to it? My books can be read online, and all I need to do is remember the title. CDs have become moot. Most of what I own is obsolete media. However, there is something to be said for putting in a dvd while hanging out with friends, or thumbing through an old book, the physical form of these things still holds relevance.

One of the things that I have yet to see, Is the entirety of my collection outside of boxes. I always wonder what it would be like to see all of my books on shelves, or my toys, or my dvds all in binders or on display, to have everything neatly available. Perhaps part of why it grows is that I have never seen it all in one place. Who knows?

As an artist, having collections is oddly important. You need to have a decent pool of data, and all artists will at the least collect massive stores of information to draw from wile working. Most of this is stored in the head, but more often than not artists will keep other collections of data as well. Books pertaining to subjects or relevance, folders full of images, actual photos,the list goes on.

Howdy folks.
We live. Oh yes we do. Here are a few words from an artist who goes by the name of Rude:

“Hey guys, Introductory blog post here, For those of you who know me already, I’ll be posting things I find interesting here, and will be trying to write up a weekly article/blog/tutorial/whatever here, so I’ll have a lot more insight for people wondering just what I am on about half the time, and also I’ll try to reveal a few of the tricks I know that have people enthused about my stuff,well, enough to get where I am coming from with it anyhow.I’ll also probably be using this to store uplore on any of my old,abandoned or ongoing ideas here as well.

Now, for those of you who don’t know me all of that well,I am a freelance artist. While I draw a wide range of things for my own and other’s amusement, I tend to draw a lot of fetish and anthro art, as it draws in a lot of viewers….and lines my pocketsI go by a small handful of names online, but mostly Rude, or DarkHeartsClub.

I am short, pale and red haired, most easily identified by my long ponytail and general affinity for drab clothes with not so drab accessories. I am a pansexual, meaning I do not feel attraction based on gender,but more on personality.I am a genderfluid genderqueerand generally do not feel I can consider myself either male or female,even though at times I tend to gravitate more towards oneor the other. I go through periods of dysphoria, but compared to most I consider them quite mild.
I grew up in NJ and just recently moved back to it. Regardless of what others may have to say, it is a nice place to liveand I feel that the cultural depth of being both a coastal state and part of the trisate have affected it, and myself severely. (ed. I think he means this in a good way :p)

Honestly guys I am pretty boned at the moment for things to put in here at the moment, but HEY that is what this blog is going to be for right?So no use in saying everything right off the bat.

“Why so serious?”

No seriously, why?

It has occurred to me that this site has been, suffering from a case of seriousness.

Analysis paralysis.  Ew, hate it.  NO MORE!!! TRA LA LA LA.

My muse does tell lies, as all fiction is well, a deception. However, I’ve been deceiving myself that this site needs to super serious in demeanor, and that amongst other things, has resulted in not much going up here.  So, I am opening the silly gates, sitting back and relaxing and choosing to be happily prolific.  I’m gonna need help, writers, creators, awesomeness in big bundles of more awesome.

We shall explain more soon, but know that this site is asking you for your awesome artsy stuff, wooot.

I’m excited, very excited, like , well, you know. . .
